Madama Butterfly

This was a very interesting animated opera. It is clearly to be viewed by adult viewers seeing as there is graphic detail in the first two minutes of the opera. However, this is a story about a woman who falls in love with a man who leaves her. When he leaves, he gives her his jacket and hat, but takes her little butterfly. He also leaves her pregnant with his child and does not return for some years. This little lady waits and waits for her man to return, and just as it seems he will not return, he does. This time however, he returns with another lover. This wicked stepmother breaks up Madama and her baby girl. Now this woman has not her child, lover, or butterfly. She then cannot handle being alone and abandoned and commits suicide. I have mixed thoughts about this video. I find it interesting because of the story and I'm a sucker for love stories however the way it is presented is so odd to me. I do not understand why this woman's baby originally is a fish in a glass tank in her stomach, and then when she is born she is a normal baby? I don't know, maybe I'm missing an important idea but it just seems odd to me to make a video of an opera in such a way.
